(Dr. Ali Shariati)

Twelve days after sending an official letter to the Ministry of Interior, requesting an authorization to convene the 9 July (18 Tir) rally to commemorate the second anniversary of the July 1999 student uprising, the Student Movement Coordination Committee For Democracy In Iran (SMCCDI), has not yet received any response from the Ministry's officials.

Therefore, the SMCCDI will abide by Article 27 of the Constitution, which allows the organization of peaceful rallies and gatherings that do not contradict Islamic values and teachings.

We invite all Iranians especially, students to participate in this peaceful rally in Tehran, on Monday, 9 July , at 4:30pm.

The rally's main purpose is to demand the abolition of violence and the liberation of all political prisoners.

The rally's route is listed below. We ask all participants to avoid any type of confrontation with police forces or pressure groups.

Our compatriots in other cities and rural regions can show their support by convening similar rallies in front of public buildings and universities, and demand the liberation of all political prisoners.

We are convinced that a mass participation in the 9 July rally will play a decisive role in the liberation of our beloved compatriots from the regime's prisons.

The rally's time and route are as follows:

1) Azadi (Freedom) Avenue - Enghelab (Revolution) Square - Tehran University
